WHAT TYPES OF OEDEMA ARE THERE?

Oedemas can be classified as:

General oedemas

Cardiac origin, such as cardiac insufficiency.
Renal origin, such as acute or chronic renal insufficiency or certain renal tumours.
Hepatic origin, such as chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis.
Certain endocrine disorders, such as Cushing’s syndrome (there is an alteration of corticoids) and certain thyroid processes…
Certain pulmonary disorders (cor-pulmonade)
Lymphatic origin, it can be generalised or localised.
Some drugs, such as glucorticoids, estrogens…

Local Oedemas

Venous origin, such as superficial or deep venous thrombosis at any localisation.
Venous insufficiency due to the presence of varicose veins.
Inflammatory processes of any cause.
Osteoarticular disorders.
Oedemas of a lymphatic origin, such as oedema that appears in an arm after a mastectomy (removal of a breast).
