HOW IS LYMPHEDEMA DIAGNOSED?

The most important thing to diagnose lymphedema is to compile a full medical history:

-Start of the process, localisation of triggering factors.

-Additional explorations, depending on the cause: ultrasound, Echo-Doppler, CAT, MR, conventional lymphography (not used at present), isotopic lymphography (used in scientific research).

Clinical characteristics: a lymphedema is a type of oedema that in the initial stages presents an elastic consistency, becoming hard and fibrous over time (in case of cellulite, there are very typical characteristics that can differentiate it from conventional lymphedema). It usually does not leave a fovea if it is a pure lymphedema and it does not get modified with posture or very little.
