WHICH ONES ARE REABSORBABLE TENSOR THREADS?Reabsorbable Tensor Thread (Happy Lift, Ancorage)This type of thread is made of polylactic acid which is the component reabsorbable sutures such as Dexon or Vycril is made of and which has been widely used in the last 15 years in conventional medicine. This experience has enabled clinicians to know in detail how the skin may respond. In terms of safety, Happy Lift and Ancorage threads are hard to place because they are extremely fine. Despite the helicoidal (spiral) arrangement of their microscopic barbs, these sutures do not have a large tension capacity and thus offer little correction. In fact, they are best indicated in fine skin types with scarce subdermal tissue than in skins with a higher fat content or in thicker skin types, where their suspension capacity cannot be confirmed. Given that this is a reabsorbable material, these tensor threads disappear because they are metabolised by the skin after 8 months. The correction theoretically achieved is maintained thanks to the fibrosis generated by the tensor during its duration. Because this fibrosis is contingent upon how the skin of each patient responds, the results are partially random with respect to the level of correction and perdurability at long term. Happy Lift threads are the least attractive although they were the first to be authorised for use in Spain. They can be used as additional filling material when other type of permanent tensors.
