WHAT ABOUT NON-REABSORBABLE THREADS?

Non-Reabsorbable Tensor Threads (Aptos Threads)

This type of thread was conceived by Dr. Sulamanize, a Russian physician over 10 years ago. Presently there are two types of threads on the market:

Classic Threads

The threads are provided with little teeth arranged in a helicoidal fashion in three space dimensions. These small barbs are distributed in an opposite direction angle from the centre to each of the ends.

This particular thread arrangement is due to the fact that the suture does not have fixation elements and the tensor thread needs to exert contention in both directions to maintain correction.

Basically, correction is obtained by the repositioning of the skin on the dented threads.

Since the threads are not reabsorbable, correction is permanent. Even though displacement of the thread is quite rare, it can occur because the thread is not anchored too any rigid structure either in the face or neck.

New Threads

Ideal for cheek reposition. They are the best alternative for thick and heavy skins.

They are used mounted on a needle with a central orifice, which allows the tool to come and go under the skin without the thread emerging at any time.

The threads are positioned through an incision (2 mm) at the level of the temple. Threads come in and out through this orifice and are knotted at the ends. Threads are not anchored to any place because in reality they constitute a self-suture that is sewn onto itself.

The process involves the implantation of several overlapping threads (a maximum of 5) to prevent the tension from being in just one thread and to distribute the correction in several different structures.

It is said that this type of non-reabsorbable thread is capable of maintaining correction over 5 years at least.

The threads may be removed is required, although this may prove difficult in the fibrosis generated is very intense. However, the type of fibrosis produced by this material is usually quite elastic and easily removed.

Because this thread is bluish in colour, it cannot be used in fair skins because it can show through. However, this drawback permits their identification quite easily with a polarised light source for easy removal by means of a crochet-like hook if needed.
