ACTIVE FX FRACTIONAL CO2 LASER REJUVENATION

WHAT IS IT?

It is a new generation ultra pulsed and fractional CO2 laser that performs a complete facial rejuvenation, restoring the signs of photo and chronological aging.

Treats superficial, medium and deep wrinkles and also removes blemishes. Eliminates the superficial layer of skin (epidermis) and causes a contraction of the deep skin layers (dermis) of up to 30% and improving flaccidity.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The laser microscopically treats the skin's surface leaving bridges of untreated tissue which initiate a quick regeneration of the skin. This new generation laser obtains excellent results and is minimally aggressive.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Above all, it is the ideal treatment for skin with signs of photoaging (wrinkles, blemishes) combined with flaccidity. In many cases, it is the treatment of choice over the age of 50.

HOW IS TREATMENT PERFORMED?

Only one session required.
One hour before the application, an anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated and then the treatment performed.  Each session lasts 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the amount of tissue treated. Cold compresses and air are applied for a further twenty minutes.  After which, treatment is complete.

Light itching will be felt for the first 2 to 3 hours which will subside alone.  The skin will also redden and progressively become more and more intense until to fourth or fifth day and will then disappear and the patient can apply makeup.
Results are evident from the fifth day.

What Does ACTIVE FX Consist Of?

Active FX, the first fractional CO2 laser, two excellences coming together: Integral renovation of photodamaged skin with rapid-pulsed CO2 laser vaporises the epidermal layer, which is renovated with no residual thermal damage to the dermis that causes significant neosynthesis of collagen (LSFRLaser Skin Fract ional Resurfacing). Fitzpatrick conducted a multicenter study with the UltraPulse-Encore-ActiveFX, (Lumenis, Yorkneam, Israel) that showed the safety and efficacy of this system.

The study also demonstrated the efficiency of the topic anaesthetic EMLA (Eutectic Mixture of Local Anaesthetics, lidocaine and prilocaine), not only as an anaesthetic agent but also as a skin protector because of its hydration effect. With this preoperative protection and analgesia, a simple pass with energy levels adjusted according to the thickness of the dermis during treatment, has been shown to be highly effective and safe for the rejuvenation of the face and neck. With an experience that encompasses 50 patients, IML has established precise treatment parameters and case selection, with no side effect worth mentioning.

The old arsenal for facial rejuvenation, the CO2 laser, has once again become the centerstage of today´s treatments today. The application of the Cool Scan incorporated in the Active FX allows the physician to design ad-hoc treatments in different areas and to meet the patient´s downtime requirements to outcome expectations. The absence of an exudative phase permits the patient to wear make up just after 48-72 hours from the procedure, which facilitates resumption of daily activities. The presence of untreated epidermis makes it less likely for complication to appear in contrast with traditional resurfacing.

What is Deep FX?

The new Deep FX is a fractional scanner with a trigger size 12 times smaller than Active FX. Deep FX reaches greater depths causing less epidermal damage which makes it a very effective treatment against deep wrinkles and acne scars. The results are incomparable to any other treatment.

Deep FX allows for treatment to deep wrinkles as it reaches deep planes in the wrinkle’s valley without ablation of the rest of the skin surface. This allows for better results without increasing downtime. The procedure combines treatment of deep wrinkles with Deep FX first of all and then, in the same session, treatment with Active FX that eliminated all of the skin’s surface imperfections, such as fatty lesions and blemishes.

Deep FX offers new hope in the treatment of acne scars, by deeply transcending the plane of the sebaceous glands and achieving complete ablation of the unaesthetic markings. Moreover, Deep FX reduces damage to the epidermis considerably and the post-treatment redness disappears 48 to 72 hours later.
