PHOTOREJUVENATION-IPL: INTRODUCTION

The course of time, the sun and other environmental agents all exert an effect on facial, neck and cleavage skin. Photorejuvenation employs Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to erase unwanted sun spots, red spots, broken capillaries, dilated pores and fine wrinkles that give us that tired and old look. It is a safe and easy to apply method that barely requires any recovery time.

Photorejuvenation. Most Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)?

tratamientos

IPL is a modern rejuvenation system that emits a beam of light similar to that of a laser but much more versatile and that can be modified according to the lesion to be treated and the patient´s skin.  The light beam is delivered to the skin through a gel, achieving over several sessions the elimination of sun spots and red spots. IPL also stimulates dermal collagen to minimise pore size and to provide freshness and skin tone. This light energy must always be applied at the precise dose and at the appropriate target site and must always be administered by a specialist.

What Does Treatment Consist Of?

tratamientos

The complete treatment includes 5 sessions of about 20 minutes each, at 3 to 4 weeks intervals. The beam of light is applied in all the areas to be treated (face, neck and cleavage) but for an specific purpose in each case, such as the elimination of spots, reddish spots, dilated pores, etc. It stimulates collagen production to soften out fine wrinkles, thus achieving a complete rejuvenation without surgery. The procedure is totally painless.

Is There A Recovery Period?

One of the great advantages of this system is that it does not require a recovery period and allows the patient to resume his daily activities on the same. Uppon leaving the office after an IPL session, the patient will only notice a mild heat sensation and the skin will be slightly reddish for a short while. The patient will have to follow the postoperative skin care recommended by the specialist.

Can This Treatment Be Combined With Other Treatments?

Yes, it can. Instituto Médico Láser conducts an overall assessment of the patient´s condition and the treatment required. If necessary, treatment with IPL or with photorejuvenation can be combined with other systems such as the V-beam laser, specifically designed to treat dilated vessels, or the Alex laser, specific for pigmented lesions.

The patient can also choose from other techniques such as facial fillings or the use of Botox to eliminate wrinkles and expression lines
